We are recruiting a 2nd Chef for our clients Luxury Care Home in Dartford, we believe that everyone deserves a touch of luxury in their lives, including when it comes to dining. Job Role:

Supporting The home’s aim of delivering high standards to residents by providing nutritious, varied and well-balanced meals that are safely and hygienically prepared and served.


Responsibilities:

  • To plan with the head chef, prepare and cook a variety of meals which are
  • appealing, nutritious and centers around residents’ preferences, requests or     any special dietary requirements.
  • To be active and encouraging, provide advice and guidance for the team ensuring that The home is a  friendly, supportive working environment.
  • To deputies for the head chef in their absence to include all of their duties.
  • To understand and comply with statutory and legal requirements such as HACCP, Health and Safety, COSHH,
  • Environmental Health, ensuring a safe and hygienic environment within the home.
  • Monitor and maintain cleaning schedules that meet the requirements of the Food Safety Manual, and ensure that all areas of the kitchen are immaculately clean. This will include the washing up of pots, pans and dishes when required. 
  • Responsible for all kitchen equipment ensuring it is in full, safe  working
  • order, reporting any damage or faults to  the Caretaker and Home Manager and following up any appropriate action.
  • To be an active member of the home team, contribute to team meetings, and assist the Home Manager with the selection, interviewing, induction and on-going management and development of catering staff.
  • To be understanding towards Residents and their needs and attend resident/relative meetings. Regularly monitor and assess Residents satisfaction with the catering service provided in their home, and responds accordingly and positively to ideas and feedback.
  • All concerns regarding possible abuse of a vulnerable adult must be reported immediately, to the person in charge, who will report to the board of directors.
  • Carry out any reasonable request made by Head Chef, manager, or director of the company.
  • All deliveries must be checked and only accepted if complete.
  • Maintain stock rotation, ensuring full efficiency of stock control. Report any shortfalls to the manager immediately.
  • Provide an alternative meal for any resident who dislikes the set menu or for any reason for the change.
  • Ensure all special days and resident’s birthdays are appropriately celebrated.
  • Provide meals for staff/visitors in accordance with the managers’ instructions and run bar/bistro
  • Ensure that room service is offered and presented as needed
  • Supervision of the execution of mealtimes to ensure the highest standards
  • We have a fine dining room for special occasions with a different menu that will need to be managed. 5* service, wine pairing.
  • To take part in staff meetings whenever possible.
  • To carry out all procedures in accordance with Company policy.
  • To receive feedback daily about meals and service
  • Run marketing events monthly and ensure the food is in accordance of need
  • Must have Modified diets /(IDDSI) experience and be able to use a Thermomix
  • To ensure the bar has fresh display of cakes every day to serve with coffee/tea

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 


Experience Required:

  • Care home/luxury hotel experience is preferred
  • Mandatory training is up to date.
  • Completion of Food Hygiene Qualification within 2 years of taking up position.
  • Department running with allocated budget.
  • Good numeric and literacy skills and budgeting/accountancy skills
  • Basic food hygiene certificate.
  • COSHH Training and understanding of HACCP.
  • Menu planning and costing skills.
  • Real team player.
  • Friendly and enthusiastic disposition.
  • Excellent communication skills, approachable and able to integrate with others.
  • Good organisational skills, ability to prioritise workloads.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Excellent personal hygiene.

Hours of work:

3 days a week 10 hour days 8am-6pm, including alternate weekends
